Looking for Laura!!!!
One of my favourite paper cut design is perfect for music sheets. I always choose a music sheet that not only looks attractive for it's colour and pattern of the music notes but also for it's title. I cannot read music but if the tittle and the print looks good, I will use it for my paper cuts. I always look out for names too. To list a few so far, Helen and Stephanie both found lovely owners. But surprisingly, I have one which sadly is still in my browser: Laura! The music sheet is a waltz entitled "Laura" from an opera entitled 'The Beggar Student'. It is a rather gentle lovely waltz, see this link to listen to it! "Laura Walzer from The Beggar Student" #54. Played On Stella 17 1/4 Inches. - YouTube I have also looked it up and here is a quick show synopsis : Naples, 1840. A rascally Colonel in the Austrian Army of Occupation plans revenge on a girl who has rebuffed him - Laura, one of the two daughters of an impoverished Italian Countess. He releases two young prisoners on condition they masquerade as a wealthy Prince and his secretary. The 'Prince' has to win Laura's hand, and then humiliate her. How the young men fall in love with the two girls and completely turn the tables on the Colonel is splendidly told in this tuneful operetta. So if you know a Laura who you think would love this hand cut unique paper cut, do get in touch! x Sylvie

I was inspired by my country walks with our dog Daisy to make some wild flowers creations using maps of course and an embossing technique that I recently discovered.
It is fun to do although time consuming. I have chosen corn flowers, poppies and still in the making (so no photos yet), buttercups mainly because these are colours I could easily find in the maps that I use. I will be taking these to the Newtimber Country & Vintage Fayre later on this month but here is a sneak peak!!! This year has been another quiet year for me, by choice I must say.
But I could not resist taking part in this lovely Newtimber Country & Vintage Fayre coming up on the 23rd July (10.30am to 4.30pm) to support a dear friend's charity event in aid of The Wellbeing of Women and her Local Church renovation. I will be holding a stand with a selection of items from prints to original hand cut papercuts at a 20% discount (an added 10% will go in support of both charity of the event.), greeting cards and more. I look forward to see many of you on the day, do make sure you pop along to my stall. Expect a day full of fun for adults and children alike with a hog roast, crêpes, archery, jewellery, afternoon tea, home made cards and teddy bears, button dolls, plants, gorgeous clothes and so much more! - All the family welcome (especially dogs ) - Free parking - £1 entry fee (children free) - Adequate footwear recommended - we are in a field! |
